The contest’s goal was the creation of a single mixed-use (most residential) building — location: hamburg, germany — possible of providing answers to the issue of densification in the urban centre. It is placed variety at the center of his creation. The building is composed of a seemingly endless variety of routes, places, functions, visual cues, materials, windows, and architectural forms. The conglomeration of all is so complex, and unpredictable, that it effectively mirrors the chaos of modern life. Private and public are interwoven amongst streets and tangents, breaking the monotony of life, and showing inhabitants the beauty of spontaneity.
Explain how and why you created this work. Was it for a specific brief, etc.?
‘hybrid housing’ was an conceptual architecture COMPETITION hosted by "ctrl + space" site.
What were you trying to express?
This proposal expresses a true embodiment of the spirit of the place of St. Pauli , a fight , rebel, unconventional neighborhood. The hybridity of the building comes from all the bridges established with the city fabric, either concrete or metaphorical; the building is open and accessible to the generality of public in all its public spaces. Structure takes here an important presence, the exoskeleton enforces the unfinished quality of the space.
