Icarus mid air
Public yet personal daily journal that uses folded paper instead of words

Solution

Icarus.mid.air was born out of the desire to immortalise memories of each day. Troubled by the thought that life was speeding past me, I decided to slow things down by folding and decorating one origami paper each day in order to illustrate, in a more or less cryptic way, the kind of day I was having.

Explain how and why you created this work. Was it for a specific brief, etc.?

The reason behind this project was a deeply personal hope that the passing of time would feel less painful and more like an invitation to expand my creativity.

What were you trying to express?

Each crane is the physical representation of the day in which it was made: my mood, my feelings, the way in which my senses were stimulated or my relationships with different people in my life.

Is it 100% your original work?

Yes, it is!
