Hey prospektiva, good work here! One last thing before the contests closes for submissions - can you please provide a floorplan? Good luck for the countdown!
Sorry but Ive arrive a little bit late :-). Here a small description of the proposal:
APARTMENT CONNECTION DESCRIPTION
My main issue was to create a space, as large as possible, pleasant and modern but very useful to life in.
THE KITCHEN: Is in the middle of the space, but is completely hidden as Grahams requirements. Meets all needs. The three-drawer refrigerator, composting area, microwave, dishwasher, an induction cook and a storage area for all food and tools. It also has a side table you can use to prepare meals, store wine, food, or equipment. You can also carry it anywhere in the house, use it as a place to eat (for two persons) or use as a bar.
THE STOOLS: There are two near the auxiliary table that you can convert into a bar stool or into a normal chair when using the 12-people table.
STORAGE: Most of it is in transparent shelves that have yellow boxes of fabric which can be repositioned depending on the users needs, without having to fill the walls of the whole apartment with cabinets.
LIVINGROOM AREA: Formed with a large sofa that becomes a 2 places bed. It works as a living room when moving the TV wall to that zone. Also a bedroom when closing everything.
OFFICE: Placed on a light full and comfortable zone. The desk becomes the 12 people table; and the shelves, the 2 people chairs.
BATHROOM: It tries to be an space full space with everything which is needed. Translucent materials want to give these sensations.
ENTRANCE HIDDEN CABINET: Hidden between the bath and the main entrance. Has wheels on its bottom for a easy use. On it you can leave jackets, shoes, and the Strida.
I don't think that you can place there the kitchen. Or not?
Hello silvia, Would not have to be a big problem, the distance between the new situation of the kitchen in regard to the drainage area is small it would have to connect. It's like if you change the water on site. There would also need to get the electrical system and extractor fan but would not have to be a problem.
The plants hanging from the ceiling is a very interesting idea!
interesting concept. congrat love it
congrats for your concept! love it! good luck!
the concept works, but the color scheme makes me like it less, sorry. I think the floor texture doesnt match at all with the wood of the furniture. Maybe it's just a matter of taste. But I wish you all the best!
no problem, I appreciate your sincerity. it's my first 3d interior and still not control the vray and wood materials:)!! Good luck to you too!!
Hey prospektiva! I love the assistant kitchen , great idea. I know materials can be an issue , it is hard to become a vray expert, I have been trying for a long time haha. Your presentation is clear and you have achieved good solutions here. Good luck!
If this is your first 3d interior, this looks quite good. With a little practice you will become expert... :)
I like the way you hide the kitchen and living room looks nice.
Nice presentation, love the trees
Interesting, liveable idea. I like the unconventional kitchen placement.
You left a free space zone, which for us is very important and as a woman you pay attention to the decoration too.Well done!
There is so much happening in your apartament. If someone likes this kind of visual richness this is really great! All the best!
Looks good prospetiva!
I remember reading in an interview on Treehugger, that Graham likes a Grandma's kitchen, as it is the central part of the house. You did it! Plus we love Jewel Boxes. : )
Nice, clean, well done.
Is the abstract black & white painting on the wall made by you?
noooo... ;) it's a painting of Eduardo Chillida a Basque sculptor, I love it!
I like the convertible kitchen... very unique ! Is the bath completely open ?
Of course not!! :) The image before to open the bathroom you can see the door and the walls. I made the render without door to see better the interior.
Thanks for the convertible kitchen I think that could be practical and functional!
Thank you everybody for yours opinions!
Although it has a window I have problem with kitchen cabinet in the middle. It is visual barrier in the middle of a small appartment. but rest is nice. Good luck
A very elegant and simple idea. The use of the storage unit in the center was a clever move to add functions.
I think you might have missed an opportunity with your central unit. Right now, shifting the panels of the central units opens up new types of program. What you are also doing is creating a entirely new quality to the space.
Maybe some of the panels can be made from Corian which adds translucency to the panel. If your panel with the cherry blossom was able to be lit from its interior, it could add an experiential factor to your design. Here is a video by AU Studio that explores some of the possibilities with this kind of material properties:
I've seen the video and the result is very nice! thanks
Charming little space...:)
I like the 'unconventional' kitchen placement, but wonder if it could have been designed to feel a bit more open - in order to emphasise the lack of surrounding walls.
There's a nice balance of openess and enclosure in the bathroom area too.
And clever use of the kiteboard image - I'm sure Graham will appreciate it!
Programmatically your design illustrates a 'charming' and complex collection of intimate spaces, which I very much enjoy. You have addressed well the light entering the apartment, and functionally each of your spaces work well; I think in many ways our designs have much in common which might interest you, and certainly we agree that the relocation of the kitchen from the obvious draws much benefit.
I believe the final delivery of your proposal is actually slightly over designed; while obviously quite eclectic, the combination of a heaviness and bulkiness of the built elements, materials and colour, would I believe be a little oppressive. This is probably just my taste but due to the reduced size of the apartment, lightness is required to emphasis and reflects light and space, furthermore a little room for self-appropriation would add to the space
In contras to this I think the office area could have been considered a little more, as a designer yourself, you are probably aware of the need of desk space.
Very good all the same, a celebration of small colleted spaces.
Best of luck
PS. Section? :)
Regarding colors, I may be take a risk with my proposition. I didn't want to play only with white for the furniture gives the sensation of clean, spacious, elegant and perfect but ecofriendly and welcoming. I tried to get these two sensations,I'm not saying I have got it in my design, but I only tried it!
Not sure whether I mean, I put an example, these two areas which you think is more welcoming?
And congratulations the model and the atmosphere is perfect and cosy. Good luck!!!
I am in love with the wall on the first page :))))
Good luck, prospectiva!
I think that this apartment is not for one NY man :) It's too ladylike
powerfull and atractive! a little bit busy the presentation there are too many objects, I think graham wanted something a littel bit more clear, but you have a solid idea! Good luck!
The aesthetic it's uneven, the next time you should try something more regular, some projects where commented becouse of that at the begigning of the competition.
Love Brad P
Love it! Good luck!
