lovely! think about that they need the design also as a big image.. if you go on the microsoft-page you'll see that a user can download the design of the chosen mouses as a desktop background with 1920x1200.. so your design should also be in that size.

Beautiful work! I was just imagining it in tones of brown.. Maybe it could be interesting, and could give the illustration an ancient vision.. Just an idea, but the illustration is perfect! Congrats!
