The library is placed in a holm oak wood in El Pardo mount.
your project is interesting but maybe a library needs more natural ambient light, than your openings provide. what is the context of your shape to building site?
Very futuristic. But who needs a library in the outskirts of a city? Wouldn´t it be more convenient to place it in the city centre? Just curious...
Yes certainly. The real use of the bulding is what we call here "Centro de interpretación", a building that contains books, exhibitions and all kind of things related to a certain issue, a kind of museum. Normally they are located in national parks and things like that, but i don´t know how is named it in english and library seemed to me a good approximation. This is related to El Pardo mount where it´s located.
Ah, if this is more like a museum, then it makes more sense. I thought of students going there every day. Thx for enlightening me. ;o)
You have to consider that the building it´s designed to be located in Madrid where most of the days during the year are sunny days. The first drawings i made had bigger openings but then i was worried to have too much light inside. It would be interesting to study in detail how the light fills the space inside. The shape is because i wanted it to be accesible from all directions as it´s placed in a crossroads of walking paths, that it´s why it´s raised. I made it narrow to the south west to avoid the sunset light.
remonds me of toyo ito's work...
Yes indeed i was studying how the the Sendai library was constructed at the beginning of the project, then i drove it to another direction.
This is beautiful! Kudos on such a great conceptual design! I love the form that you have created and there is such a great flow to the layout of it all. : )
Thank you very much.
Wow, beautiful. How far is it from Madrid by train? Looks very inspiring, great work!
Thank you. It´s around 15 Km from the downtown of Madrid, you can get there by bus.
Well I like your idea but it does remeber me ..... : http://www.classic.archined.nl/news/9809/ING.html
Interesting, i didn´t know neither this architect nor the design. Here in Spain the most well-known current dutch architects are MVRDV, UNStudio and Mecanoo but we know that there are a lot of good young architects there thanks to some designs published here in magazines. Thank you for the link.
First your design is really great and it's only the side-view that seems to be look alike. But your design is different in shape. Congrats with your design !
great idea and present.i had uploaded a project ,Shiraz library.
Thank you! I´ve been watching your conceptual projects. Good work.
Like a soap bubble...fluid space...great idea. thanks.
Thank you !
Thank you very much!
thats a great design... congratulations... but i still dont get what did you do: the design of the building? the illustrations based on the design of an architect? or everything?! either way it`s amazing =)
I did everything, the design and the illustrations. Thank you very much.
looks good! where does the design concept comes from? the shape and the skylights? is that imitating in a way the forest? thanks in advance
Thank you for your comments. The building is placed in a crossroads in a clearing in the wood, I chose a round surface because there is not a main bearing, and the paths come from all directions; in order to avoid the sunset light I made it narrower to the west. The building is raised from the ground to allow the continuity of the paths. The purpose of the skylights shape and layout was to frame the surrounding landscape, like taking pictures, as well as achieving and uniform light inside the building.
hey flegido, thank you so much for your thorough reply! it's makes much more sense to me know!:) great work!:)) thank you for sharing it!:)
great development and wonderful presentation. I'm not an architect but I don't need it to appreciate such a interesting shape and execution. inspiring....
and the illos! they really help to sell the idea.
cool... can't stop thinking "noah's arc"
Interesting, i didn´t think of that reference.
I really like it, congrats!
great project. a good idea. congratulations
i think some renderings would have earned you more hearts :) nice project btw
