Solution

The Maori of New Zealand believe that when their ancestors came south to the islands of Polynesia, twenty to thirty generations ago, some of them continued their journey to the southernmost point, where they settled. The Maori believe that the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) were reflections of the sky by huge fires that lit the descendants of these ancient travelers, trying in this way to communicate with distant relatives in the islands of Polynesia, hoping that they will come to their salvage from their icy home.
