Colored Pencils Floor
A happy floor by Parador Something you should go for!

Wether is your kids room or just the new refurbished living room it will make you feel joyful and cosy. The vivid colours that sorround you will bring memories from your own childhood when you used to play and draw with those magic colored pencils.

Which problem does your idea solve?

The colored pencil floor can light your room in the night by using the LED lighting module that gradually lights up as you walk on it. We all have all experienced the unpleasant situation in which you need to wake up in the middle of the night to drink some water, use the restroom or even answer the phone. Your eyes will slowly adapt to the dim lights and you won't have to walk about in darkness to find the switcher.Or maybe your kid is afraid to sleep with the lights turned off.

How does your idea solve the problem?

The colored pencils floor brings a contemporary and playful finish to every home. But is more than that. By using the LED system which gradually turnes on by the motion sensor you will forget about the hassle of having to turn on the light during the night time. Due to this intelligent system the user will be able to select from a different range of pre-set programms through a wall-mount touchscreen or keyboard.

What is the benefit of your idea for the target group?

It addresses to any child's room, nursery, playroom, children's hospital or to anyone who wants or needs to create a happy and a playful environment. Besides the technical benefits described above the main focus of this design is to create a helpful and friendly environment.

Which materials are you using and why?

The module is made from reclaimed wood on the top for a natural finish and layered wood on the inside to give resistance. The colored circle can be made of layered wood or HPL painted with a scratch resistant matt paint. The LED case is made of a thermal resistant composite material. The LED modules have a hard translucide scratch resistant plastic that emits a difuse light glow.

Which aesthetic does your idea follow?

Inspired by colored pencils the idea follows the hexagonal pattern of a pencil combinig a wood texture with a multitude of vivid colors. The LED system creates a interactive play of lights and shadows. By using only white circles the idea can be implemented in an art gallery, a library, a living room or any other public or private space.
