Which problem does your idea solve?
How does your idea solve the problem?
The unit system of flooring allows damaged flooring to be easily replaced without replacing the entire floor while allowing each homeowner/apartment dweller more chances to successfully customize their space to fit their own personal and unique needs and aesthetic choices.
What is the benefit of your idea for the target group?
Adaptability and customization are the two greatest benefits. A homeowner/apartment dweller can change their floor design at will. Damaged floor tiles can be replaced without replacing the entire floor thus improving the overall sustainability of the floor system. Due to the tile size, they are interchangable with existing carpet and ceramic tiles allowing increased adaptability. Also, because the tiles don't require permanent installation, apartment dwellers can customize their space.
Which materials are you using and why?
Bamboo for the flooring surface because it offers much of the warmth and adaptability that many have come to love with hard-wood, while being a fast-growing and strong grass that requires far less natural resources than hard-wood counterparts. For the padding underneath, recylced rubber from automobile tires provides a perfect non-stick surface and padding while utilizing an otherwise difficult product to dispose.
Which aesthetic does your idea follow?
Anything from a more traditional (classic) hard-wood loving aesthetic to a very graphic hipster aesthetic.
