Observation

People who travel a lot, sometimes for days, need extra space for their luggage. Most of them choose to have a rooftop cargo carrier but it doesn't come without disadvantages: 1) Due to the wind drag effect the vehicle gets a way poorer gas (electricity in this case) mileage. 2) Crosswinds affect the stability of the vehicle and will tend to drift to one particular side.

Conclusion

The ideal solution would be to have a rooftop carrier on your car only when you need it and only as big as you need it to be.

Solution

The Exparrier is an expandable cargo carrier integrated into the roof of the ID Buzz. It increases and decreases in size depending on how much luggage you have in it. It has 4 motorized hinges (2 on each side) that bring it to the right shape and size. The lateral elastic shell of the carrier is 3D printed. + because the ID BUZZ has a transparent roof, the carrier could also be transparent, allowing light to come in when empty.
