Observation

Usually cars for families and active people ends up as storage space for all kinds of extras.
The kids have their crayons, headphones, waterbottles. The adults their favorite swiss armyknife, the sunglasses, and the phone. Same with the active people, the tools for the mountain bike, the carabiners for the climbers. All this stuff just lays around, in hard to reach corners, deep bins, in boxes and under the seats... just out of order.

Conclusion

The usage of the car will greatly increase if there was a easy and flexible system to store, hold, fix and carry all these different objects. Also safety will greatly improve, if things is in the expected place. They are easy to get hold of, and dont move around during the drive. Solutions are offered by 3.rd party car accessories manufacturers, but these are often "too universal" not really solving the task 100%, and they are definitly not personal and individual.

Solution

the Additive Accesories System, consists of a number of standard integrated plastic rails, on which the user can "clip-on" accessories. The clip itself, could either be purchased from Volkswagen, as a base of adaption to the special personal 3D printed part or could be distributed as CAD data file, for the user to integrate into their own special 3D printed accessory design. Volkswagen could place 3D printers at selected dealerships where customers could print accessories free of charge.

Need addressed by this product

The system is very basic, but very universal. It consistes of two components. The first is a semitransparant lighted rail, integrated in different locations through the interior. The second component can be varied in 1000 ways, but is essentialy a clip which fits onto the rail.
