The intention of this design is not to produce a specific 3D printed design, or designs, but rather to use existing materials technology to provide a frame work into which a variety of yet to be designed 3D printed products may sit in.

Conclusion

That although mass production has made a highly sophisticated prouct such as a motor vehicle, attainable, it is self expression that has become the luxury.

To date only a handful of very wealthy individuals can afford bespoke things. We are at an interesting juncture, 3D printing techniques having the potential to fill this gap.

Solution

The intention is not to produce a specific 3D printed design, or designs, but rather to use existing materials technology to provide a frame work into which a variety of yet to be designed 3D printed products may sit in.

Now that conventional mass production techniques have placed highly sophisticated products within many peoples reach, by definition mass produced products lack personalisation. With production runs as low as one, 3D printing is currently capable of bridging this gap.

Need addressed by this product

Where 3D printing comes into its own is in personalisation. A huge variety of clip-in internal components could be ordered by the customer on-line, in a wide variety of configurations, colours and materials.
