Caregivers' Basic Care
Energy is the main element that keeps us going, therefore, we will focus on this basic aspect.

Solution

If we focus on the level of energy of the caregiver, he or she will have a more comfortable experience in his/her hard times, as well as the patient he/she cares for, so it is a win-win situation.

Describe a caregiver situation that you were/are involved in.

My wife's uncle suffered a difficult surgery and we needed to stay with him for his basic needs, but the one that was really suffering was his wife. She was staying in the hospital every night making sure that her husband is cared for.(for the stay-in policies overnight of the caregiver-IT'S POSSIBLE,read http://www.emoryhealthcare.org/patient-guide/pdf/family-presence-policy.pdf -page 2,par no.6)-there are situations when there's no vacant place for the caregiver-ending up in a chair in the lobby

Explain the caregiver problem that resulted for you and/or other caregiver(s).

However, sleeping in a hospital chair combined with a full-time work schedule during the day really downgraded his wife's energy level, as well, as her patience. Regarding this context, when somehow I am in the night at the hospital, I always see there the caregivers trying to get some rest on a rusty uncomfortable chair and it gets me thinking...how are those people going to help their loved ones in need, and how sick they would feel themselves the next day because of lack of normal sleep

Describe your caregiver solution that would provide assistance or relief to the problem of the caregiver.

The solution is really pragmatic and cost-effective. For every patient in its care that spends several days in the hospital, TEVA could provide besides the patient's medicine, an inflatable mini-sleeping-armchair for its caregivers, that could be placed right next to the patient's bed or in free spots on the hallway, so that the caregiver could actually sleep a few hours. These items could cost $8-18/piece, which comparing to the funds spent on medicine, it would represent nothing but change.
