Beats is a wearable/mobile application which uses technology to listen to every patient's heart beat. The power of Beats is in it's data science, with which it learns and updates it's knowledge base. Every patient's heart beat is monitored and arterial waveforms are created through out the day. In case of irregular heart beat patterns or sudden spikes causing heart attacks, care giver is alerted. Apart from that, Beats learns from that scenario, patients with reported arrhythmia will be analyzed separately to form sub segment arterial waveforms. By analyzing multiple such cases, system try to improve accuracy for irregular hear beats waveforms that it uses for identifying heart problems. This forms the base for identifying future cases of Arrhythmia. For the reported patients, other factors are also considered. Eg: Day time and night time heart rate patterns, speed of walking to heart rate patterns, body mass index, number of steps in a day, sleeping hours,age, alcohol, cigarette consumption etc. With these factors beats identifies potential patients from it's users and warn them of a potential chances of heart problems. A family friend of mine collapsed due to sudden heart attack during his morning jogging session. He was unattended as no one saw him collapsing. By the time somebody saw him lying in the footpath, he had already passed away.

Cardio Vascular diseases accounts upto 30% of all deaths world wide. There are cases of Arrythmia where young adults who passed away silently during their sleep. These provides no warning signs and avoid ease detection. The caregiver situation that I mentioned, if we knew that he was going through an attack, we could have provided him medical assistance and may be he would have been among us now. This made me think how diagnosis of heart diseases can be performed taking technology to the aid

With aid of wearable technology (eg: smart watches,fitbit etc) blood pressure variation (pulse) over a period of time can be monitored. By sampling pulse 60 to 100 times per second we get accurate arterial waveform on heart rate variation. Heart rate variability shows the closest indicator of Arrhythmia. On a ideal scenario with beats, before a patient gets a full major heart attack, beats will identify and alert caregivers/emergency contacts.
