Solution

This solution takes advantage of technology and puts knowledge in the caregiver’s hand as well as it takes the information in the patient profile to improve the treatments and follow their progress with the use of gadgets (Hallu and a smart wristband). Through the app Halo Care’s portable smart assistant, Hallu, can order medicine, call relatives and even order a “service”, a registered health care professional nearby who can come and provide help in tasks that the patient needs.

Describe a caregiver situation that you were/are involved in.

Ten years ago I was in a car accident and wasn't able to move from my bed for almost 9 months and my mother was my main caregiver.

Explain the caregiver problem that resulted for you and/or other caregiver(s).

I realised that she often got stressed and felt guilty not being able to spend all day taking care of me. Caregivers are under a lot of pressure when the patient’s needs take most of their time and they are not able to do their own chores or have their own hobbies.

Describe your caregiver solution that would provide assistance or relief to the problem of the caregiver.

Halo Care offers help in the problems that a caregiver faces on a daily basis since it enables other family members and health care professionals to get involved in the daily activities the caregiver is dealing with. This way the caregiver can have a few hours a day for themselves to run personal errands, exercise and have time to relax.
