Solution

While researching different lace styles, I was particularly drawn to the bold floral motifs of Brussels lace. I was especially attracted by the Point Duchesse characteristics: leaves and flowers naturally joined with little a few bars thrown across to connect them. The lack of a netted background in this kind of lace, results in a more continuous design. I was also inspired by the beautiful and colorful florals in Mexican embroidery.
