Think off the Grid
I guess that a house built with a decent concrete foundation, brick walls and a tiled roof may have a mass of 200 to 300 metric tons.
In the future, energy will enter my house in form of mechanical energy, raising it a few meters at most on hydraulic cylinders, storing potential energy. I can release this energy whenever needed by emptying the liquid in the hydraulic cylinders into a turbine linked with an electricity generator.
The Energy to raise my house can be provided by wind energy, water power or any other mechanical source of energy capable of driving a hydraulic pump.
These are one of the oldest energy storage devices: clock weights.
