Linz Hanging Gardens
The Port Area has a new landmark, reviving the area for all to take joy in.

I attempted to resuscitate the Port Area by integrating a few features which could give it the appeal necessary to become a landmark and create a connection to the future development plan for the arts in this area.

What is the name of your concept?

The Linz Hanging Gardens.

Which of the three suggested areas are you choosing for your concept? (the Donaulände public park, the port area or the mouth of Traun River)?

The Port Area.

What is the public function of your concept?

By taking one of the old bridge's trusses, and making it stand vertical, it becomes noticeable to the rest of the town, all the while integrating diverse flora on each of the floors, which may also provide panoramic views, especially up top, making it an interesting journey from the bottom to the top, the visitors being visually rewarded for the travel. The web covering the lower area allows for public cultural manifestations which may tie it to the future local development.

How are the parts of the old railway bridge visible in your concept?

One of the old bridge's trusses is set vertical to make it an easily recognizable landmark for the visitors and stands tall for all of the locals to see, and take pride in their past. I've also taken the railings from the old bridge to perform the same role in a new function.
