An earthwork/riverwork art piece that will change over time.

Solution

There are two aspects of this project: A park element and a river element. The park element consists of paved areas of various colors of decomposed granite and sections of the bridge that are cantilevered out of the ground. The river element consists of compacted earth mixed with a bonding agent shaped into the form of the main bridge trusses. It is intended that the river element will decompose over time, leaving only a memory, much the same as the bridge itself is now but a memory.

How are the parts of the old railway bridge visible in your concept?

Portions of the main trusses are cantilevered out of the ground. (The rendered representation is schematic. It is intended to use portions of the truss as they exist.) The shape of the trusses are reproduced in the paving and in the river.
