Carpe Diem
1/4

Solution

Carpe Diem is a very popular Latin aphorism translated to "Seize The Day", taken from the poem Odes by the poet Horace. Carpe is the second-person singular present active imperative of carpō "pick or pluck" meaning "enjoy, seize, use, make use of". Diem is the accusative case of the noun "dies" -"day". A more literal translation of "carpe diem" would thus be "enjoy the day" or "pluck the day [as it is ripe]"—i.e., to enjoy the moment.

What does your design show?

The feather is a very simple but also very significant symbol of lightness and softness. It is a graphic metaphore for pureness and freedom and brings hope for luck and fortune. It is combined with "CarpeDiem/Seize the day" to remind the owner of the VictorInox pocket knife to cherish, enjoy and find the beauty of every moment in their life, to be hopeful, thankful and to hold dear the loved ones.

What is the unique idea about your design?

Carpe Diem is unique and very popular aphorism, it is emotional and bold message.

Is there a special story behind your design?

Dedicated to the loving memory of the most special person in my life, who was sharing and living with the CarpeDiem idea.
