Solution

Poya is the Swiss rite of walking animals up the mountain in Spring to get to the Alpine meadows. Folk Art depictions of the trek up are also called Poya. Poya are usually painted, but here the scenes are rendered in the style of Scherenschnitte, a folk art style in which silhouetted scenes are cut from a single sheet of paper. In this Poya, a traditional Cowherd/Goatherd hikes up the mountain, followed by a goat and cow. A dog runs ahead, the Swiss flies above. Edelweiss dot the chalet's lawn.

What is the story behind your design?

Honestly, I was inspired by another submission, LeanneFriedberg's "Scherenschnitte." I have several actual Scherenschnitte artworks which I love, and have thought about doing something with that technique. However, while LeanneFriedberg's design is a modernized love story, I had been toying with the Poya idea already thought this more Swiss story might work better for Victorinox.

Is there a connection between your design and the Victorinox brand?

Yes. The Swiss identity is essential to the Victorinox identity, and this submission features a very Swiss scene in a traditional Swiss style. Even the bell on the cow is a Swiss-style cowbell, and the Victorinox logo is utilitzed as a part of the Swiss flag.
