Butterflies are the symbol of joy and usually, of color. This one is named Idea Leuconoe, or simply the Paper Kite Butterfly. Its black and white wings make it stand out from other, more vibrantly colored insects.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
It is originated from Southeast Asia, but can be found in greenhouses around the world.
What story does your design tell?
A being that is both black and white, fragile and gracious, wild and peaceful. It reminds me of how human emontions or thoughts are always in contrast with one another.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
The butterfly is acrylic color on paper, the background is cardboard filled with acrlyic paint
Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.
When I was a child I visited the Schmetterlinghaus in Vienna. It is here that I first encountered this kind of butterfly and was impressed by its simplicity and grace at the same time.
