Pattern of the Sacred Ibis

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

African Sacred Ibis. I like their shape and colours.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

The Sacred Ibis is found in most areas of Africa and is also a mythical bird.

What story does your design tell?

These Ibises are common in Cape Town, but I still find them pleasurable to have in my environment and have enjoyed turning them into an artwork.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I made the Ibises into a pattern as the colours work well as a repeat.

Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.

To be featured on facebook as the Victorinox "Pick of the Day" please write a short statement about you (see more details in the brief).

I am an illustrator and pattern designer based in Cape Town, which I love. I am drawn to the flora and fauna in my immediate environment as it is so abundant and diverse. (I am not drawn to sharks and snakes however!)
