Like a mussle a penknife has its most valuable things protected inside. I really liked this analogy. So i decided to turn the penknife into a beautiful mussle. And what a coincidence there is already existing a "penknifemussle" called in German "Taschenmessermuschel". So i developed the design inspired by this mussle.
Solution
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
Beside that i like the analogy with the mussle and the penknife i was fascinated by the different type of the mussles patterns. I found they are perfectly to use for a design.
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
For the coasts of the North Atlantic from Norway to marocco . Although the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Mediterranean.
What story does your design tell?
Of a mussle which protects there pearl (tools) although of the feeling of finding a really rare mussle while walking on the beach.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
I choose to abstract the mussles typical layers and give them a new colorful pattern to make the principle how there seashell is constructed visible fore everyone in a colorful way. Although wanted to bring the permits shimmer on the knives design to make it like a little jewel.
