The tiger was chosen for this design because of all the wonderful virtues they represent. To me they are a sign of courage, vigor, inner strength and passion. Their physical beauty and majesty make them a striking choice in any design. The bold, high contrast of their stripes are a wonderful match for the small scale of the knife.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
Tigers are most representative of Asian cultures, however, I would venture to say that they are loved by people everywhere.
What story does your design tell?
The jungle at night, a tiger sneaking through the leaves, sitting around the camp fire telling tales of your adventures to far away places.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
I chose to have the tiger fill the entire surface area, creating a mirrored pattern out of her features features and stripes. I felt that by not having a background the knife is transformed into a character. In this case, a confident, adventurous character.
