Meet the hungry bear, that one day was tricked by the scheming fox to go ice fishing with it's tail in the freezing lake. Back then, the bear had a really looong tail! Gullible and greedy as he was, he lost his tail in the process and did not eat any fish. This is why the bear has a short tail now!
Carpathian Brown Bear is one of the representative animals in the Carpathian Mountains and is also a popular character in a children's story.
He comes from the mountainside, deep in the evergreen forests of the Carpathians. He is sometimes spotted in Brasov, hunting for lunch in the trash bins (smart bear) near the forest, but is usually found allover Romania.
The moment you choose from a story is important, as the same one can convey many messages. My chosen snapshot shows the bear after the story has taken place. He understood the moral of the story, and since then he is happy with the little things in life. You can now find him sticking to the honey jar, mostly annoying the bees, but he's now a content bear.
I chose a cartoony flat style since the bear belongs to a children story. He is supposed to teach you a life lesson, and must be easily empathized with.

Hi! I am Raluca, a 31 year-old designer from Bucharest, Romania, and I love mixing illustration with design. Victorinox's Animals of the World idea is a nice idea to promote some of the local stories, that are most of the time connected to the animal world. The brown bear that lost it's tail to the fox is a dear story of mine, from when I was a little girl. Even if the bear was rather unhappy with the result, he seems to have found peace and a renewed love for honey.
