Like in my other entry 'The "limited" edition', I have been searching for an animal that is native to my home country and endangered.
Your Swiss Army Knife 2017
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
Although the wolf is classified as a "Least Concern" animal around the world, meaning it is not endangered it is different in Germany. We eradicated the wolfs around 1900 and the started to come back around a hundred years later. Now the population has risen to 200 adult wolfs in Germany and if people learn to life with we have a good chance of them staying. Beside them looking beautiful, people might actually start a bit of research about them.
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
Wolfes life all around the world, it stands for Germany, because the started coming back and I hope we can forever call them neighbors from now on.
What story does your design tell?
It tells a story about a beautiful animal, that is endangered in my home country and that I hope people do start to see as what they are and not the monsters from children tales.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
I choose a low poly vector style that is following a minimalist trend. It is good for illustrations on small surfaces, because it gives structure and vibrant colours.
Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.
I have, just in case its Germany.

Hi, I am Sandra, an Illustrator from Germany. I choose the wolf because few animals have fascinated mankind as much as the wolf. Sadly in Germany they where extinct, but now they came back and with education and understanding on humanity side, I hope we can forever call them neighbors from now on.
