The design fits perfectly with the rounded shape of the swiss knife, the feathers on the logo side and the face on the other side, which surprises, offers more details and allows to "discover" the animal.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
With their huge eyes and abundant feathers, owls just have a breathtaking look!
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
Owls are found in all regions of the Earth.
What story does your design tell?
The design goal was to create a graphic representation of the animal that should be able to be reproduced in a very small size and fit the shape of the knife. Both, the animal and the product have two different sides. I tried to get the user surprised by the visual difference between both sides (but keeping the visual harmony between them).
What style did you choose for your design and why?
A flat, symbolic and strong style which is functional and perfectly adapted to the small measurements of the "small Swiss Army Knife".

Hi! I am Annick, I am French and Cuban and I live in Switzerland since 2010. I work as a designer and illustrator since 2007. I created this design for Victorinox because I like their products and the firm has a branch office in my city. I think this design fits the soul of the brand, because of its strong visual impact and its iconic power.
