Rosalia alpina
One of the most beautiful beetles that lives in my country, Spain.

The order Coleoptera contains more species than any other order, constituting almost 25% of all known animal life-forms. The design is my tribute to one of the most successful animals in the world.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

Rosalia alpina is one of the most beautiful longicorn beetle. This beetle lives in my country, Spain and its numbers across Europe has greatly depleted in recent years.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

Europe, from North of Spain to Slovakia.

What story does your design tell?

I want to "play" with the Victorinox logo, using this logo for the thorax of the Rosalia alpina.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I have chosen a clear and direct style adapted to the size of the Victorinox knife.... clear lines and simetric elements.

Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.

Have you used any third-party material? Even if you’ve modified or combined it, please know that in this project no stock material is accepted. See “Guidelines, regulations & comments” (in the brief)

No, I have designed all the illustration by myself.

To be featured on facebook as the Victorinox "Pick of the Day" please write a short statement about you (see more details in the brief).

Hi, my name is Sergio and I´m from Spain. I work as illustrator and graphic designer. As far I can remember, I would always have a pencil in my hand. Over the years, my educational background in Biology has led me to spread knowledge of the Natural World. Illustration and Nature join together through my career; it is for this reason that the Natural World has such a strong influence on all of my drawings....
