My idea focuses on the Dalmatian dog, a breed specific for Croatia and well-known for its beautiful black spots. Taking the character of a Dalmatian as the starting point – which is a funny and playful dog – my goal was to show that there is a Dalmatian in any dog.
Solution
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
Dalmatian dog is chosen as the leading character, but shown through different types of dogs. The black spots are used as the main element that points to the type of breed, but applied on different dogs to show the character does not fall into one category nor it depends on the type of breed.
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
The Dalmatian dog is specific for Croatia and the Dalmatian coast.
What story does your design tell?
My design story is that all dogs are loveable and playful.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
My style of drawing is kind of funny and odd-looking, which matches the general mood I wanted to display.
