Stag beetle (Lucanus cervus). It's the biggest beetle in Poland. Endangered species - very rare and difficult to find.

I grew up in the country. Forest was very near, I still feel very good in forests and they are important to me. I have never seen alive Stag beetle in the wild, but I would love to and it's one of the symbols of forest to me. The beetle is surrounded by blueberry bush because it also reminds me of forest.

I started with few pencil sketches then created digital illustration. Drawing style may be weird but it's my own. In nature Stag beetles are brownish but i chose black because it created better contrast with rest of the elements. I wanted to creates something linear complicated but with simple palette.

Hello, my name is Malwina. I live in Poland. I wanted to created simple yet eye-catching just to fit small pocket knife. I used characteristic for me detailed line with simple palette.
