Chameleon is a miraculous animal which has a natural ability to change colors, adapting to any environment and fitting anywhere. We chose the image of a chameleon to represent the diversity and flexibility which in our opinion are the core of Victorinox knives.
Chameleons come in a range of colors, and many species even have the ability to change colors. So we picked this animal as a metaphor for a multi-purpose and highly functional tool. The way a chameleon fits in any environment is exactly how multi-functional devices, so popular nowadays, fit in various situations of our every-day life.
Chameleons are originally from various regions of Africa. We also decided to use colorful, bright and saturated palette which is associated with the traditional art of this area.
Chameleon changing colors to fit in practically everywhere is a metaphor to highlight the most practical feature of such iconic and classical multi-purpose device as a Swiss Army Knife.
It's a digital illustration performed in flat style, which works better on smaller object as we can present simpler shapes and objects without adding too many details. It also works well with the colorful palette we chose.
Our studio is located in Ukraine, but we travel a lot, and are constantly inspired by the colors of vibes of the world around. Africa is the inspiration for this particular work, and we hope that you'll share our admiration with its colors and vibes.

Here's my vision of a Classic Limited Edition 2017 design, and the animal I picked is a chameleon.
