I chose the cusuco (or armadillo), as a metaphor to the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife: a versatile tool with multiple features inside a unique case: the cusuco (or most commonly known as the nine-banded armadillo), is an animal that carries with its own armor and uses it to protect oneself from its predators.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
Cusuco / nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus)
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
North, Central and South America
What story does your design tell?
On the front side, there's the armadillo outside its shell, camouflaging with its environment. On the back side, the illustration shows the armadillo with its transformed shell, as if it was hidden at the bottom of a hole.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
A vectorial illustration in flat contrasting colors. I propose two color palettes for this design.
Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.
El Salvador, Central America.
