Combining the national bird with the national industry to represent my part of the world.

The Whooper swan is the national bird of my country and the forest and paper industry are what the well being of my country was once built on so creating the bird from paper was my initial idea. When I begun the composition part of my design I noticed how I can bring Victorinox to the design by including the logo in the illustration as part of the swan's beak.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

I chose the Whooper swan because it is one of the first animals that come to mind when I think of my country since it is Finland's national bird.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

For me it stands for summers in Finland.

What story does your design tell?

Front side of the design shows the Whooper swan with a glint in it's eye and the back side shows the reason for glint was seeing it's life time partner.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I like to work with layers of paper or paper folding a lot so I tried to imitate that feeling in digital format.

Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.

Have you used any third-party material? Even if you’ve modified or combined it, please know that in this project no stock material is accepted. See “Guidelines, regulations & comments” (in the brief)

To be featured on facebook as the Victorinox "Pick of the Day" please write a short statement about you (see more details in the brief).

Hello, I'm Jenna and I'm a youngish designer from Helsinki, Finland. I decided to take on this brief to challenge myself to do something different than what I usually work on and have fun creating a design for Victorinox.
