The Mojarra is an endangered species, originating exclusively from Cuatro Cienegas, Coahuila


This fish is one of many species in danger of extintion, from Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila, México. The reason of extinction of these species because some pools have been destroyed because of desiccation, deforestation and modification of water bodies for tourism, construction of irrigation canals and roads; and the extraction of gypsum and salt, burning grass for grazing and overgrazing mainly horses and goats.

What story does your design tell?

I love Cuatro Ciénegas, so it was just natural for me to draw one of the species of very unique fishes that live there. The Mojarra.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

Ink pen on white paper.
