Nordic warmth and tradition.

Solution

The days are growing shorter and chillier here up north so I drew inspiration from the warm sweater I pull on at night and the old traditional Finnish tapestry hanging on the wall whose patterns I like to watch as I sip my hot chocolate at the family cottage. The design depicts the Whooper swan swimming in a forest lake with fish swimming underneath.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

I chose the Whooper swan because it is one of the first animals that come to mind when I think of my country since it is Finland's national bird.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

The Nordic countries.

What story does your design tell?

It depicts the simple story of the Whooper swan who for ages have made the annual migration from south to north and fascinated people with their beauty and loyalty.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I chose a simple line drawing style to reference knit and embroidery patterns.

Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.
