The idea is to show the friendship between the animals and an old shepherd. This friendship is full of tradition in Romania, especially in the old counties.It is very beautiful and close to the nature.
I chose the owl, bear, mountain dog and the ram because, as a shepherd in Romania, you have to be wise like an owl, strong like a bear, fearless like a mountain dog and stubborn like a ram. Also all these animals seen close to a shepherd.
The animals I illustrated are from Romania, in fact Romania is very well know for its brown bears.
My design tells the story of Romanian shepherds, the traditional ones. They live in the mountains surrounded by animals. In my illustration I wanted to tell that the shepherd takes care of his animals and they take care of him, becoming one entity.
I used a flat design becasuse I wanted it to be like a totem and reflect only the essence of the story.
