Otters protect each other by holding paws while they are asleep in order to stay together.

Solution

Otters are really intelligent and they do care for each other - providing a sense of safety. Their trust gave me the idea to include them in my design.

When you are certain that a particular brand provides you as high quality as you wish to receive, you trust that brand. In return, that brand's products make sure you want to choose the same brand again (for example, when you are looking for a gift for a loved one).

This definitely applies to Victorinox - who haven't heard of the famous Swiss Army Knife? Therefore, I would like to offer the caring otters to represent their trustworthy line of products.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

I chose the European otter (lutra lutra) because it is, well, "otterly" adorable. :) Besides this, I found this single fact fantastic that they hold paws in order not to drift away from each other - I felt I just needed to work with otters.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

The European otter can be found in my homeland too - Hungary, where its population is one of the largest in Europe. A Hungarian writer wrote a very famous novel about an otter too (Lutra by István Fekete), which gives me even more reason to choose this specific species.

What story does your design tell?

The story of my design is about simply trusting and caring for each other. If more peope showed care for others and our environment, our world would surely be a better place. Fortunately, there are several examples to follow - furthermore, anyone can set a new example, anytime, anywhere.

Trust is also hard to earn, be sure to give back trust just like otters do.

This is the reason why I included this text on the other side of my design: "Please take care of me and I will take care of you."

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I chose a cartoony and cute style partly because this is my favorite style, and partly because almost everyone loves cute animals. Who wouldn't want to bring cute otters everywhere? They would make a great gift for loved ones - or for yourself. :)
