The Quetzal was born from the Gods breath that they blew to a Guayacan tree.


I want to interpret the importance of the Quetzal in the Mayan culture because for them the Quetzal means fertility and wealth, also courage and victory.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

Quetzal, because represents the culture and diversity of Mexico, and it's an animal that represent spiritual wisdom.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

Guatemala, México and Costa Rica.

What story does your design tell?

The story of a culture, the Quetzal was so importan to Mayan, for they great plumage served to make the tuft of Moctezuma. Their feathers were worth much even more than the gold, often quetzal feathers were exchanged for blankets, clothes, necklaces and bracelets jade food or serve as currency. It's the most beautiful bird in America, and could be a symbol of history and freedom.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

It's my own style, I try to make an colorful design, to impact.
