I decided to use the Quetzal in my design because is consider one of the most beautiful birds in the world but also and i guess the most important part of it, is that is a endangered specie.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
South Mexico and Central America.
What story does your design tell?
I wanted to show through it not only the bird but also the diversity and the festive and colorful background that it has which represent us as Mexico and Central America. The Quetzal is venerated in this places of America since more of a hundred of years now and also it remind us as a sign of royalty from our ancient cultures and the legends of the Mayas that my grandparents used to tell me.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
I chose vectors with a very colorful, vibrant and a little bit messy background and the Quetzal in outline to appreciate it organic and fine form.
Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.

I'm Rachelline, a Mexican Illustrator who loves to create Extravagant and chaotic illustrations full of color, messy shapes and a bit of magic and mystery in every piece. I'm not very keen on drawing animals but for this entry i wanted to show some of the Mexican folklore with one of the most beautiful birds in the world surrounded with a very unusual colorful landscape.
