The rooster is both beautiful and dangerous. A brave leader and a reliable companion. Much like the army knife.
Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?
The rooster or also known as cock. They're widely recognised all over the world.
What culture or region does the animal stand for?
All over but mostly Estonia and my memories. We have a strong native heritage as farmers and peasants. Growers and creators. However the rooster is not a widely used symbol. I thought it might deserve the attention.
What story does your design tell?
It mostly draws from my memories as a child when we lived in the country side for the whole summer and each morning was greeted by a rooster. It gave a sense of protection. That someone was watching over the family.
What style did you choose for your design and why?
Basic and not too detailed as that will result in clutter. Let it be bold and simple.
Please make sure you have filled out your country of origin in your profile! It’s important that the regional Victorinox team understands the cultural background of your design.

I myself am more of a monkey man as I was born on the monkey year. But as Estonia has a long rural history I feel the rooster has been overlooked. The rooster is both beautiful and dangerous. A leader and a companion. Much like the army knife so many have come to love.
