Under the Umbrella
Under the Umbrella

A strong rain storm flooded the forest, putting all the animals in danger. However the scaredy rabbit managed to save the situation.

Which animal(s) did you choose as a visual and why?

In my design you will find the most common / popular animals like: the bear, fox, moose, birds, owl and of course the main character of the story, the scaredy rabbit.

What culture or region does the animal stand for?

Being a story about the forest animals I chose the most representative of them, animals which can be found both in the forests of Europe and on the other continents as well.

What story does your design tell?

The story wants to be a modern and funny reinterpretation of ‘Noah’s Arch’.

A strong rain storm flooded the forest, putting its inhabitants in danger. However, the scaredy rabbit managed to save the situation by sheltering all the forest animals under it’s umbrella (front side). On the back side of the knife, the umbrella becomes a boat having on board all the animals of the forest. There is a symbolic detail represented by the little bird which keeps in it’s beak a small olive branch.

What style did you choose for your design and why?

I chose a simple and playful graphic style in order to emphasize the cheerful nature of the forest creatures.
