Combinig iconic symbols, names most famous places and typography in the New York City.

Solution

In order to create very elegant, minimalistic design I used architectural, urban symbols and their names. Another very recognizable, and common elements is typography. Helvetica is used almost everywhere in New York. It's like air of the city. Using very modern and yet simple colors make this design visually very strong and memorable. This design is also link to jazz music and covers one of the most famous NY recording studios (ECM).

Describe why you have chosen this place as a visual? What story does your design tell?

It's all about my dream to work and live for a while in New York City. I love it's history, it's soul: music – iconic jazz clubs, theaters, design, architecture, city signs and also it's night life.

My name is Szymon Skrzypczak. I'm form Poznań, PL. I've been working as a graphic designer / illustrator for 13 years. I created this design for Victorinox because I think it's always valuable to confront my own work with other fellow designers, and also the subject is very interesting.
