Solution

If you visit Chichen Itza on spring equinox you can witness the phenomenon of see how the god Quetzalcoatl comes down the stairs of the temple/pyramid. The design of this pyramid was realized by the Mayan architects who dominated the knowledge of the stars and in particular of the sun; they placed the pyramid so that its shadow could project to the sides of the stairs resembling a serpent descending. That is why I represent the feathered serpent, the sun and the pyramid.

Which place, city and country is featured in your design? (place/city/country)

Chichen Itza/Yucatán/México

Describe why you have chosen this place as a visual? What story does your design tell?

As a Mexican I really love my culture and I think that the representation of one of the most important gods in the mayan mythology is a good idea. For me, the feathered serpent represents force, courage and freedom; features that an adventurous person needs. And thas what Victorinox's Knife means, ADVENTURE. My design is a bit of Mayan mythology. The god Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, descending the steps of the pyramid at the equinox spring, which takes place in Chichen Itza

To be featured on social media as the Victorinox "Pick of the Day", please write a short statement about yourself (see more details in the brief).

My name is Pamela Salazar and I am 24 years old. I live in Mexico. All my life I have had great interest in art, design and culture; as a communicator are aspects that I have been able to develop, currently working as a freelance designer. I created this design for Victorinox because I consider that it represents the culture with a modern detail, with vivid colors and striking tones and an artistic street style.
