The colorful Jogyesa Temple located in Seoul, illustrated with rainbow colors.

Solution

The front shows a part of the Jogyesa Tample, while the back shows the colorful lanterns. I wanted to combine something traditional and something modern, so for this Idea I mixed a buddhist temple with the ranbow colors of internet culture and video games.

Describe why you have chosen this place as a visual? What story does your design tell?

For this contest, I illustrated 3 ideas of places with which I had a connection before. With the Jogyesa Temple it was different. I wanted to challenge myself and find one place that I hadn't seen in the contest and use that as a chance to learn something new. While browsing I stumbled across the temple and instantly fell in love with the colorful lanterns. So in the end I learned about a Buddhist temple, got a cool idea for a design and hopefully fueled some more interest in the landmark.
