Japan Mount Fuji
My idea was simply to represent the most striking images that come to mind when thinking of Japan.

With this design I wanted to make Mount Fuji the most prominent and important part of the the piece, since it is an enduring symbol of Japan and such a source of reverence and beauty for the Japanese people. It is also a landmark that I have had the pleasure of experiencing in person, as I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to visit Japan a couple of years ago.

On the back it features Mount Fuji, the Japanese flag, a bonsai tree, a Japanese pagoda and a Torii (which is a gate found at the entrance of a Shinto Shrine). These are all images that come to mind when imagining Japan and are important symbols of history, nature and culture for both Japanese people and those visiting the country.

I have kept the design simple as when I visited Japan I was drawn to the simplicity of a lot of the graphics there.

Which place, city and country is featured in your design? (place/city/country)

Mount Fuji, Honshu Island, Japan

Describe why you have chosen this place as a visual? What story does your design tell?

I have chosen Mount Fuji as I feel it is a strong representative of Japan.

To be featured on social media as the Victorinox "Pick of the Day", please write a short statement about yourself (see more details in the brief).

My Name is Alessandra, I am 24 years old and I live in England. The front of my design is Mount Fuji and the back shows 5 images that are important symbols of history, nature and culture of Japan. I have created this design for Victorinox as it is simple, effective and the landmark Mount Fuji is clearly shown. Japanese people and people visiting Japan would instantly recognise the design as being Mount Fuji. As would many worldwide. The colours are strong and eye catching.

Please make sure you’ve filled out your country of origin in your profile and insert your country of origin here:
