Hello worldwide creatives,

Welcome to this exciting Crowdstorm for such a beautiful product and brand – Wodka Gorbatschow, based in Berlin, since 1921.

Whether you’re a design amateur or professional, you can participate with your design suggestion for a Wodka Gorbatschow limited edition. You are free to work on the on-bottle, label and lid design – on all three or just on the parts of your choice.

If you are aiming for the Client’s Choice Professional Award, your idea will have to be feasible from a technical perspective. For that, we've made ready a lot of help for you: 3d files and exact measurements, a [tutorial](https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/projects/wodka-gorbatschow/briefingmaterial?materialid=5219) with the do's and don'ts when designing for printing on the bottle and on the labels, and you'll get direct expert (technical) feedback on your submission.

If you are aiming for the Client's Choice Amateur Award, you are free in your creation, and if your idea wins, then the client will adapt your design technically. However, we encourage you to check out the [tutorial](https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/projects/wodka-gorbatschow/briefingmaterial?materialid=5219) for the Pros anyway, it will get you inspired.

Have a good read of the brief. And, if you have questions, I am happy to answer them.

Let's have some good fun! Diana

One quick note: Wodka Gorbatschow is not looking for a redesign (a new shape) of their bottle. They are keeping the original bottle, but you are free to adorn it, the labels and/or lid as you wish. ;)

Hugs, Diana

Dear Diana, Where can I find the 3d-files? Or is it a mistake and you mean the 2D-pdf with the prerendered (3D) bottle? There is no special Wodka in the Limited Edition, right? Thanks with kind regards, Henning

this is not good, every one including me wanna redesign the bottle and give it a new soul, this not the work of a designer to change colors, im disapointed.buh

Define "designer"...? People like me prefer to work without fancy schmancy 3D whatever, and use the printed part to get our point across.

than this oroject is exactly for you , good luck

Hi there,

Be it bottle or on-bottle design, they are challenges equally difficult and exciting. A brilliant on-bottle design is not an easy task. And a design that is even technically feasible, is even harder and more rewarding.

Let's get this started. :) We are looking forward and appreciating every submission.

Cheers, Diana

i was excited the first time whene i saw the project but now, what ever

Dear didiernewviking,

I get that you really enjoy playing with that shapes and you got excited about that. I hope that once you read through a bit and it all settles in, you might get inspired nonetheless to participate. There is a lot to do in terms of design and printing techniques.

I wish you well, Diana

yes i really wanna play with that shapes , oh , i was so excited whene i saw the project,i was preparing for such a project ,i was learning 3d softare the last two years , u cant imagine how sad no not sad but i dont know how to describ it, its like some one cheated on you, thats bad

I also have three new model of vodka bottle now in my stock ahaha :D

Hello Diana,

I was waiting for the project to be opened, and now I'm really disappointed: the purpose is NOT to redesign the bottle? Because all indicated that it would be a bottle design... Especially when you classify it as a packaging design project, it implies structural changes... if you state also "Create the coolest limited edition bottle", it naturally implies that the bottle will be redesigned, and not just the label...

Absolut never changed the bottle for their limited editions...? I do not see how that is a given.

Wait, I think they occasionally added bling.... but the shape itself was always the same. Maybe stretch this project a bit, too, by playing with textures and materials?

Dear julivi,

I understand that you are sad, when you had your eyes on a different challenge. However, there is so much to do without changing the shape of the bottle, not only in terms of actual design, but also in terms of printing techniques on the bottle and on the label. I hope you will get excited and inspired about it nonetheless and participate.

Hugs, Diana

Diana, I'm an industrial design professional. Therefore, I'd not be interested in participate in a graphic design only challenge... my critic is actually more on jovoto platform than on the client's brief itself, since jovoto doesn't separate two totally different kinds of project. At this very moment we have here a project that's also labeled as "packaging design", in which only the structural shape will be changed... they're rather different universes, they should be clearly separated as they are in real life.

@CrossTheLime, absolut has also some brilliant examples of strucurally different limited editions: the "bling" you're referring to was a plastic case, enclosing a traditional bottle. There are also the miniature sets, textile cases... you don't necessarily need to change the "shape" of the bottle to create something structurally different ;)

Dear julivi,

We then hope to have soon a industrial design public Crowdstorm for you. :) We usually label the creation of shapes and mechanisms as "product design". However, I agree with you that there is much confusion around these kind of terms, and they are hardly always perfectly encompassing of the actual task.

Hugs, Diana

All the best, for all participating in Wodka Gorbatschow project.... ;)

Hello beautiful creatives,

Just to get your inspiration and your creativity going, here's just some examples of interesting on-bottle design solutions: Gillemore Gin, Rawal Gin, Liberte Absinth and DFW Beer.

I am looking forward to see your exquisite ideas.

Hugs, Diana

can't agree more that the subtitle is more than misleading.." Create the coolest limited edition bottle for Wodka Gorbatschow" and I also actually started to work on bottle design.. Hope in future Jovoto choose right description for upcoming project or not post it at all until it's started :) like -" Create the coolest graphic design for limited edition bottle for Wodka Gorbatschow"

Dear Atis,

Thank you for your suggestion. We have a limited number of characters that we can fit in there. But we will do our best next time to double check that the title is not confusing.

That being said, you should always wait for and read the brief. Without the brief no work is relevant. And it's also the best use of your time - read the challenge of the client in detail, and then create. :)

Cheers, Diana

Hello! I am wondering if you can submit more than one design? Thank you!

Hello, This is great project! The logo (fonts and dove) must not be changed, am I right?

Dear struganik,

Good question. We must check that with the client. I will get back to you asap.

Cheers, Diana

Dear struganik,

Generally the elements of the logo should stay unchanged. However, you can do a few things, you can play with the elements of the logo in the following way:

– you can separate them and move them around (i.e. the dove can be positioned somewhere else on the bottle)

– you can recreate the logo graphically (i.e. you might make it look 3D, or you might have some amazing illustration talent to put to use).

The important thing is that the logo and, hence, the product stay easily recognizable to the customers. You must imagine that in-store customers will look at the bottle on the shelf for 3-5 seconds and decide if they will walk further or stay to check out the limited edition bottle in more depth.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Cheers, Diana

Oh! Awesome! As a graphic designer I'm quite happy that I get to redesign the labels! :)

Dear Diana, when it´s "just" about Label-Design, why does the client needs 3D- files for the Client’s Choice Professional price?

Dear Gestaltungsbude,

The idea behind the Client's Choice Professional Award is that the client could directly use your design for production. So they need the source files, be it 2D or 3D, whichever you use. So, 2D is fine. And it is about the label, on bottle and lid – you are free to redesign them all or just one, or two.

Does that answer your question? Hugs, Diana

Thanks for your answer Diana. I do have another question: Does shades of gray are count like one color?

Dear Gestaltungsbude,

Basically, if you are working with a gradient kind of surface that is basically grey, then it counts as one color. If you are using simply different shades of grey for different surfaces, then each counts as a different color. I (and, therefore, the client technical experts) would have to see your actual design to give you precise feedback. I'd suggest to go ahead and upload it, and then we can tell you if it works or not. :)

Cheers, Diana

Hey everyone,

We thought that you might enjoy to know, throughout the Crowdstorm, which ideas catch the client's eye.

So, if your idea is liked by the client, you will get a notification in the shape of a comment under the idea. It doesn't mean that that idea will be licensed or that it will win something, what it means is that it is on the right track.

And then you can decide for yourself if you want to put more time into finishing the ideas with potential and / or also the ones that did not catch the client's eye, to convince them how awesome those ideas are as well.

Exciting! Diana

Excellent news! So, everyone will see the notification or the idea owner only? Thank you Diana and jovoto team for listening our suggestions and needs!

Everyone will see it. And this, by far, is just the beginning! ;)

Hugs, Diana

Rather a comment, may be some icon like a traffic light? Green means " you idea is in the right track & you can go on!", Red means " stop, you idea is totally out of the right track. Start again." and yellow mean " Hold, you idea have some potential, but, something no right. Inspect it!" What do you guy think?

Thank you for your suggestion LKK1511.

First, developing things for the website takes time. So we'd have to take your suggestion into consideration for the next Crowdstorms, as it wouldn't be possible to implement right here and right now.

And second, sometimes clients can be wrong too. ;) In the sense that they might not initially see the potential of an idea. So we wouldn't want to go for such a radical approach. But I get what you mean and there are many creative and inspiring ways to get to the same destination.

Cheers, Diana

Hello Diana, Thank you for answered my question. I have another one. Can you change the visible status of project to be invisible, so that no one can't see the other's submissions? It's important to me.

There is no blind option on Jovoto, as that would go against the whole idea behind the site.

Dear struganik,

I am not sure that I get what you mean exactly, but CrossTheLime is correct. The projects (Crowdstorms) on jovoto are collaborative and community based. This is why we have the Best Feedback prize (for the most helpful comments) and why we have the voting part that starts once the submission period has ended. I will introduce you all to these details step by step, while the Crowdstorm is running.

I am sure you will have fun as it is at the moment, as well.

Hugs, Diana

Hi everyone,

Important notice for your image uploads: As you might have noticed, the 2D "Clean Bottle" template that you are using to make your designs is set up vertically, with a very narrow width. If you apply your design directly in that file and upload it as such, your design will not be seen in full in the Idea overview.

To ensure a full view of your design, please make sure to upload your submission attachments in square or landscape formats. You can do so by adding a background to the clean bottle template that has the same or a bigger width than the current height of the template.

Cheers, Diana

Dear Creatives,

I have received a very good question and I think the answer interests you all. Here it goes:

I hope this helps and inspires you further.

Cheers, Diana

Hi there Diana. I was wondering if I can add some new text to the label. like giving a name to this new limited edition bottle so the people would remember it by that name. Is that possible? :) thanks for your time

Hi Ricardo,

Yes you can try that.

Have fun, Diana

Would it be possible to get the 3d model of the clear bottle, we could be more acurate working in 3d!

Dear Szymon,

We've uploaded it for you in the Download Material section under "Wodka Gorbatschow - 3D Bottle (mtl; obj - format)". Have fun! :)

Diana

Great question! Great answer! :)

Hello dear creatives,

Monday we'll be having the Halftime Feedback with the client. That is when we will go through the submissions and we'll get their insights and suggestions that we'll help you for the second part of the Crowdstorm. So, until then, you have 3.5 days left to create your drafts and submit your ideas.

And if you have specific questions for the client, please write them here by hitting "Reply" or write me a PM (message).

Exciting! Diana

Wait, what? Wouldn´t halftime imply that it was somewhere in the middle? Didn´t this just start?

Dear CrossTheLime,

You are correct, we always try to set the Halftime Feedback meeting in the middle of the submission period, and we usually succeed. This time, our schedules only met for Monday. This is why I made sure to let you know in advance. :) I hope it works for you too.

Hugs, Diana

Dear Creatives,

Thank you for your quick submission to reach the Halftime Feedback deadline for today. I'll be back on Wednesday with the client's detailed feedback.

Until then, I wish you an inspired, wonderful day. Diana

Hello Diana,

I have an idea that comes out a little bit from the conventional, that is why I would like to ask you two things:   -It's possible to propose a design that covers the entire bottle, like a wraparound? -It's possible to propose a special package that accompanies the concept of the bottle?

Thank you very much and good luck to all!

"One quick note: Wodka Gorbatschow is not looking for a redesign (a new shape) of their bottle. They are keeping the original bottle, but you are free to adorn it, the labels and/or lid as you wish"

Dear Marcos,

Thank you for your questions. Here are your answers:

– First of all, I need to know if you are applying for the Amateur Award or the Professional Award. Second, could you please share with me an example with what you mean more or less? Maybe you can find something on Google. You can also PM me about it, if you wish.

– It is not necessary, but yes, you can. However, make sure that your design on the bottle also works without the package that accompanies the bottle.

Cheers, Diana

Thank you Diana, I sent you a PM

Dear Creatives,

The Halftime Feedback has just been shared under the brief. Please take 2 minutes to go through it, to get client's view on the direction of the submissions. Which reminds me – they really appreciate your effort and dedication, and they want to thank you for that!

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hugs from Berlin, Diana

I bet that the winning entries are the ones which are not presented at all on a white background ;)

Dear skybre,

We are just kindly asking you. It is indeed not a must in order to win the Client's Choice.

Cheers, Diana

I know you do! no problem. dear ;)

Thank you Diana:)

I am sorry but I need to say this platform doesn t work at all. I have sent 4 proposals here. I have got three comments together from other members. Nobody vote and if they vote they don t comment anything. If i check top 100 i can see there projects from same mambers so it means people just vote eachothers or they vote only their friends. . It sucks!!

Dear skybre,

Thank you for caring about creative interactivity on jovoto. As you know, there is a place for this discussion that we check all the time – this forum thread (otherwise your insights will be lost in a comment under some brief). And, as you can see here – we are on it. :)

Cheers, Diana

One member wrote on the discussion board: "Personally I stopped voting more than a year back because I was getting messages with a hint directly or indirectly to vote for them.. and more It showed me how some people had got to the top ranks". I need to say that day by day i really believe in this more and more!

I know those members there think now : "shut the fuck up bitch" and I will be the last in this contest after this

Please see my comment above. If you have questions about the brief, I am happy to answer them.

I have just one question Diana? If I want to know how some of member/members here have voted me and I ask it from you could you tell those names and their rates to me ?It Is obvious that some one has pushed my rate down there. It is quite easy to count it from first 5 votes i got.

skybre

It would be nice to know those members who manipulate this platform there!

skybre

and I do not want to get revenge. I would just like to publish their profiles here!

Dear skybre,

As you know, cheating and bashing can be pretty easily discovered by us (the jovoto team) in the backend, and for that we have the Monitoring phase - when we check all the votes. To answer such specific questions, please write me a private message (PM). I will, however, make a post asap with guidelines to voting. In the meanwhile I will get back to you via PM.

Cheers, Diana

skybre

If member has low karma and he gives 1-2 in case maybe yes it is easily discovered, But if 5 friends(for example school mates) with high karma decide to give 3-5 to some member how you know it is not manipulating. Anyway it would be quite effective way.

It takes a certain karma level for the votes to count, first of all. Plus, Such a behaviour is not so difficult to be traced with enough data.

But, good question, we are actually working on a blogpost to explain, in brief, monitoring behind the scenes. Hopefully we can post it very soon. And, as you know, we are working on ways to eliminate such behaviours.

Hugs, Diana

Hello, Diana! Just some question ... 1. Regarding screen printing stations , is it including the label part? 2. How many maximum colors we can use for the label only (lid, body & round)? 3. For professional , can we design just the label part? Or We must design the printing on the bottle?

Dear LKK1511,

Hi! I assume that you are applying for the Client's Choice Professional Award. I'd suggest that you watch the [tutorial](https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/projects/wodka-gorbatschow/briefingmaterial?materialid=5219) to get a better grasp. It will answer your first and second questions. And if you are still unclear, please let me know.

Regarding your third question, yes you can design only the label.

Good luck, Diana

Thank you. Printing on bottle is very new to me & i inexperience in it, especially printing on bottle. Can my idea apply on the bottle? How many printing station do i had with my idea? Is the label using the same method as the bottle printing or normal sticker?

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd quickly jump in to mention a few guidelines on voting in this project, since some of you are already giving votes.

First of all, when you vote an idea in this Crowdstorm, vote it based on the design, and not on the technical feasibility. That's because many of you may have not read the technical requirements. And also because 'design' is where all submissions intersect.

Then: – Be sure to read and consider the creative brief. – Rate using the full scale from 1-10. By giving a diverse range of ratings you broaden the range of ratings and use the full spectrum and power of the rating system. – If you have friends on the platform and you find it hard to be objective, it’s better not to rate their ideas. – The more you rate the fairer the result – more people more opinions. Broader spectrum. – Always be fair and objective! Rate the ideas, rather than the people who submit them – Remember to change your vote if the idea owners has improved his or her idea. Unfair (cheat) votes will be annulled during the monitoring phase.

To read more on rating, go here

Have a great creative weekend.

Cheers, Diana

thanks for that Diana!

Hi everyone,

We start this week with some special news: Wodka Gorbatschow has decided to share with us, each week, one or two pick(s) of the week. The pick(s) of the week will be posted on their Facebook page and rewarded with a symbolic Wodka Gorbatschow T-Shirt.

The pick of this week is senf's submission – „Arctic Animals“. Well done, senf! Your idea stands out in terms of a unique and interesting topic that perfectly fits the brief. We'll get in touch with you about the details of your prize.

Keep creating, keep submitting your own, original idea.

Hugs, Diana

Dear idea owners,

If someone gives you helpful advice in how to develop your work to make it even better, don't forget to click on the "^" button on right, top side of their comment to show your gratitude.

It's a small, but nice gesture, plus that might help them win the Best Feedback Award.

Have a wonderful Thursday. Hugs, Diana

Hello dear creatives,

It is Friday and we've got a second Client Pick for this week!

Congratulations to Timotion and "his timeless, clean and absolutely cool design" for the Limited Edition – „Frosted Gradient". You know what chilling means. A Wodka Gorbatschow T-Shirt will be on its way to you very soon.

Have an inspired & fun weekend. And drink safely. Hugs, Diana

Hi to All!

I have tasted this "vodka", and have to say that "Gorbatschow" has no links with Russia, Russian vodka and Gorbatschov, it is rahter poor quality german spirits. So dear jovotans, please don't make mistakes by adding in your ideas feelings of Russia or Russian vodka :) it is deutch shnabs.

Hi Evgeni,

Thank you for your comment. This is obviously your own experience and opinion. There are millions of people and fans who think otherwise. So, since the comments space under the brief is dedicated to helpful, motivational and inspiring comments and questions, let's keep it like that.

Have fun creating!

Cheers, Diana

Hey Diana, with the whole bottle printing: Is it possible, to leave parts out? Like in the A, B, C, D Parts?

Hey blitzundbogen,

Good question. That wouldn't be possible. In those parts you can only add new design elements.

If you have more questions, I am happy to answer them.

Hugs, Diana

Yeap I think if you want to manage in voting you really should forget the brief because in that case you can do much nicer things ;) People who vote here they don´ t care about the brief like we can see there :)

Dear creatives,

Today we've got this week's Client Pick! (and the third overall).

The congratulations go to Gestaltungsbude and her very early submission – „Antarctica Glow". Gestaltungsbude managed to find a very playful idea to have the Limited Edition bottle stand out not only during the day, but at night too. ;)

A symbolic Wodka Gorbatschow T-Shirt is on its way for you.

Have a cool Thursday. Hugs, Diana

Good job Gestaltungsbude!

Dear hangyel,

Good question. You can go for luxury as you can go for a travel theme, or any other theme. The important thing is that the topic fits Wodka Gorbatschow (the arctic, ice ..) and that it communicates "Limited Edition".

Was that your question? Hugs, Diana

More or less :) Do you know what is the occasion? Why they want a Limited Edition series? Are they sell one Limited Edition, or a collection in the future? In my opinion this question is very important, because the "artistic" route is good, if they want a collection, but not a good choice if this Limited Edition is exclusive, or different taste, or different manufacture process, or if they want to sell it with double price.

in short: What is the story behind? What is this Limited Edition vodka, What can this product, why Limited :)

Dear hangyel,

Usually, a "Limited Edition" of a product is a moment in time when the product wants to bring a special design on the market, for a limited amount of time. These "Limited Edition" designs are usually collected (or saved) by the customers because of their unique design.

Wodka Gorbatschow, although it has been around for almost 100 years, it has never had a "Limited Edition". So, if all goes well with the first one, they will introduce other "Limited Edition" designs in the future. Most probably the price for it will stay the same. And it does not come with a new flavour.

Any other questions? Diana

Thanks Diana! That's all what I want to know :) Thanks again!!

Dear Diana, i have another question. Does color variations count as separate ideas? If i'd knew that...

Dear blitzundbogen,

No. Simply upload them under the same idea. To make it really obvious, you can mention it in your presentation by uploading a slide in between with the text "Color Variation".

Cheers, Diana

blitzundbogen

please let other creatives know too

Dear creatives,

There are only 9 DAYS TO GO in this Crowdstorm. How exciting!

Please remember, when you upload your idea to ask yourselves – is what I've uploaded 100% mine? If not, if you've used some stock material (or unlicensed fonts) to create the scene, or for some design details, it is okay, but it is critical that you mention it in the "Credits" field, every time you upload a new attachment, like here, and in the last question of your idea. This will keep you out of legal trouble - here on the site and if your idea get licensed later. It also shows that you are a professional. ;)

I encourage you to rather focus on the graphic design on the bottle, than on the background behind the bottle. Actually it is best if you upload your designed bottle, first and foremost, on a white background. That's good for you not too waste time in the beginning, to get quick feedback, and for the client to see what you are really offering.

I will remind you that, if you are aiming for the Client’s Choice Professional Award, the design you are submitting right here and right now, will have to be technically feasible. For that, it is necessary that you check the: 3d files and exact measurements (from the "Download Materials" section) and the [tutorial](https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/projects/wodka-gorbatschow/briefingmaterial?materialid=5219).

If you are aiming for the Client's Choice Amateur Award, you are free in your creation, and if your idea wins, then the client will adapt your design technically. However, we encourage you to check out the [tutorial](https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/projects/wodka-gorbatschow/briefingmaterial?materialid=5219) for the Pros anyways, just to get inspired.

I am looking forward to all of your ideas and talent! Keep making stuff. For questions, I am here for you. Diana

"to get quick feedback" Are you kidding Diana? :D

Not at all, skybre.

just one example: https://wodka-gorbatschow.jovoto.com/ideas/51695 over 2 weeks there and 3 three feedback. super quick :D

Dear skybre,

I agree with you that the more creatives give helpful feedback & suggestions, the more fun it is! ;)

Hugs, Diana

Dear creatives,

I am here to share with you last week's Client Picks. Here we go:

Congratulations to senf and his submission – "Polart", an intriguing reminder of the polar exhibitions of the 1920's combined with an artistic twist. senf has also won the first Client's Pick. Double bravo to you! And another T-Shirt.

And congratulations to Ana Mateias and her submission – "Polaris". Thank you for showing us the way to the stars, Ana. A symbolic Wodka Gorbatschow T-Shirt is on its way to you as well.

Less than 4 DAYS TO GO. Keep creating, keep collaborating and show us what you've got.

Happy Monday, Diana

thank you :) good luck ,everyone!

Hi, Diana. Is it possible for the brand printing a sort of silver layer with a light iridiscent effect? I already have readed the tutorial, just to confirm =)

I got it better: I think it's possible by using flexographic printing or hot foil embossing as it's allowed in the technical requirements =)

Dear orangerender,

That would be correct – I am assuming that you are printing on the label.

I am looking forward to you creation, Diana

Dear creatives of the world,

Sharpen your pencils, TWO DAYS TO GO!

Good luck, Diana

Hey everyone,

Please remember to answer all the questions in the question form and to write all the details that are important to your story. Upon review, the client will look not go through all the comments, but through your design and description. I am sure you don't want your concept or design to be misunderstood or go unnoticed because of that.

Have a great evening, Diana

Hello creatives of the world,

The submission period have ended with 290 ideas. You rock! And now is time to vote – one week to vote 290 ideas, I think you can do it! ;)

Here is what you really need to know when you rate an idea in this Crowdstorm:

– Rate the design, and not on the technical feasibility. That's because many of you may have not read the technical requirements. And also because 'design' is where all submissions intersect. – Be sure to read and consider the creative brief. – Rate using the full scale from 1-10. By giving a diverse range of ratings you broaden the range of ratings and use the full spectrum and power of the rating system. – At jovoto we support fair votes, so please do not invite your friends to vote for you.

After this phase comes the Monitoring phase, when all votes are checked and unfair (cheating) votes will be annulled during this phase.

To read more on our rating system, go here.

All the best from Berlin, Diana

Client must be overwhelmed with such a hug and extraordinary designs this crowdstorm brought to the brands life! Outstanding work jovotans! Good Luck! :)

What I have learned during this project. It is no reason to show your work before last day. Now i understand why some members hide their unique ideas always until last minutes. People are free to copy the concepts of the other members and develope them itself because it is ok to project guides. So what is the meaning of the collaboration in this case i wonder.

Recycling

skybre

oh dear

Hi there,

The reason to submit earlier is to get feedback from the guide and from the community on how to improve the idea. From my experience, it is very rare that an idea is 100% perfect as you submit it. There is some meaningful detail usually always missed, By submitting in the last day or moment, you don't have the time to receive the meaningful feedback, or to update your idea. In this Crowdstorm we had sadly such examples as well.

However, every creative can decide for themselves when they want to submit. And what is important from them.

In what concerns the "copycat", we're looking into it, this is why we didn't yet get back on the issue.

Have a great Monday, Diana

Looking at all ideas after submissions, I had to admit that so many great works coming in at the last few days. Although i not a favor of uploading the idea in the final few days, the works submitted late sometime is better. In the past, the platform even have winners came from the last submission.

It is always interesting, indeed, to see great work coming up either very early in the submission period and very late. :)

Enjoy voting! Diana

After each contest, I want to be able to say: I gave it all I could, I gave it my best. Good luck to all of you. :)

Dear Creatives,

I thought to give you the heads up regarding the next steps in this Crowdstorm. Once the voting (by you) has ended and the monitoring has been done (by us at jovoto), we will announce the Community, Best Collaboration and Best Feedback Winners. That will take two to three weeks.

The Client's Choice Amateur Award will be picked by the client based on their favorite 'Amateur' design.

For the Client's Choice Professional Award, the client will pick their favorite 'Professional' designs and check them with their printing agency. After that, they will pick 6-10 designs which will go into a Social Media Voting. This voting will start in about a month. For the exact date & more info, stay tuned to this channel. ;)

Two days left to vote! :) Be fair and see you soon.

All the best from Berlin, Diana

Hey project guide, You wrote 11 days ago: "By submitting in the last day or moment, you don't have the time to receive the meaningful feedback, or to update your idea. In this Crowdstorm we had sadly such examples as well. " How is it possible that one project here has been updated more than one week after deadline? Are not the rules not the same for all member here? I wonder :O

Dear skybre,

Which idea do you have in mind?

Cheers, Diana

"In case you feel that this is not the idea you've voted, you have 24 hours to take back your vote (have your vote disabled) by replying to this PM."

rating in this way can only get better ;))))

Dear skybre,

In rare cases, we do make exceptions to the rule. In this case, it was reported to us a case of idea interference which we had to deal with after the end of the Crowdstorm. We did not consider the idea a case of plagiarism or a copy, however we did want to pick up on the reporting. We found as the best solution to ask the creative to make a slight update to his idea (a suggestion that we normally give in cases of idea interference during a Crowdstorm), and hence avoid any possible idea interference and keep supporting his wonderful work.

I hope you see it like us as well, and that you can appreciate his work.

Cheers, Diana

Of course you should organize totally new voting if you update works after voting period. Otherwise the whole voting loses its meaning, right?

Dear skybre,

As you know, we've given everyone who's voted the chance to keep their vote or having it annulled. Unfortunately our system does not make it possible to change the vote with another vote. However, canceling a vote means downrating the idea. The winners you see is the result after the requested annulments, which were just a few.

Cheers, Diana

Dear Caja,

Our team at jovoto is incredibly geographically spread (https://www.jovoto.com/team/), and so are the guides. For myself, my home is Berlin since many years now. ;)

"canceling a vote means downrating the idea" Are you kidding Diana? If you understand math and logic of voting it will probably bring a higher rating. So now it really seems that you manipulate votes there.

Dear skybre and Caja,

That is your opinion only, and this is why you had the chance to remove your vote. All the arguments have been presented already, and the situation has been handled in the fairest manner to all parties involved. It is not the first time when an idea is updated after the project closed based, – on a case of idea interference. jovoto always wants the best ideas to win, whoever the idea owners are, that doesn't matter to us. The decisions have been made and the topic is by all means now closed.

I wish you a good day, Diana

Congratulations razorxx!! :)

Thanks again! :)

Thank you everyone for the support! This means a lot for me, I'm really happy right now! :)

Good luck to everyone!

A big drumroll to the two Client Choice Winners:

The Professional Client Choice Award goes to razorxx and his design Silver print or Neon glow–– it was the most voted idea from the five finalists with more than a third of the votes. We are already very excited to see your limited edition bottle in a few months (in winter) on the shelves. ;)

The Amateur Client Choice Award goes to Hyper Flix and his design 37.5 -- this was his first submission on jovoto and although it only ended on place 153 in the community voting, it still won one of the two Client Choices. Well done, Hyper Flix!

Congratulations to both winners, to the finalists, to everyone who has participated, voted and who has followed the “Pure Soul of Vodka” crowdstorm together with us. :)

Here's the winner announcement from our client: https://vimeo.com/169523863

All the best from Berlin, Diana

Hi Diana Hyper flix was a part of professional Client Choice Award Is he? How he can be both? Anyway congratulation:)

Maybe they have read his comment on Wodka Gorbatschow`s facebook page; "2 dinge: 1.wodka gorbatschow hält wohl nicht viel von innovation und 2. das dumme gesindel hat einfach keinen blassen schimmer von gutem design." :D

wow Bravo, very nice manners!

Like our guide says: "Well done, Hyper Flix!" :D

Very interesting to get to know about all this things ;D I like to know at first, why not choosen an idea from the "amateur pool" of submitted ideas, like the briefing tells! Not okay for me, breaking the rules!

Hi everyone,

I will be happy to quickly clarify the winning idea for the Client's Choice Amateur Award. First of all, the Client Choice is always picked by the client – purely on the submitted idea and, obviously, independently of the creative's status on jovoto (such as having a yellow band).

Secondly, regarding the idea's status – it might look tricky, but it is very simple. Hyper Flix submitted his idea for the Amateur Award. The client really liked it, so when making up the shortlist for the social voting, they checked it with their production agency and they found out that the idea could be produced. So it entered the social voting. Since the idea did not win the social voting, and since the original status was an idea for the Amateur Award, the client found it just perfect for that award.

My words "well done" directed to Hyper Flix were for the fact that, although ending up on a very low rank in the community voting, his submission stood out to the client. So, it is a nice example how, in general, a low ranking idea, my still win the Client's Choice, and even with so many submissions,

It is important to know that, although we had technical experts from the client throughout the crowdstorm, they only checked the ideas applying for the Professional Award, since those were the tricky ones. However, it was not always perfectly accurate to assess if an idea could be produced in some cases - unless this idea was taken to the production agency. Having all almost 300 ideas checked by the agency would have been impossible in the given timeframe and costly. So, we let you give your best go at for which award you think your idea fits, and then we checked the finalist ideas (on the client's list) with the agency. Some of the Amateur ideas may be produceable as well, but since they did not make it on the client's shortlist anyway, they were not checked.

We looked into the shortest and easiest process possible, for such a big crowdstorm.

Hugs from Berlin, Diana

Hi Diana .Yes,I understand the client motivation but still if someone is already recognised for the professional choice award by client and jovoto shouldn't be a part of Amateur award. By Jovoto's Rules should be two separate shortlists otherwise it is against rules. Why you are creating any rules and separating the submission from the beginning if you are not going to follow it?We didn't create these rules you did. And yes it was a lot of submissions 300 people had worked completely for free which made a nice media campaign again for free for WG. If WG really like Felix work they should pay him the same prize as a Razor because they recognised him for Professional Award already and now they have a person from the professional choice award for the Amateur award money. All is very convenient. I guess better than nothing! Why you didn't create one award, first and second place if the client doesn't really care about these rules. It is like you are giving one person two chances but others designers have only one. Big Hug from London Jo

f*** the all rules, right D?

Dear joyleen,

It could have been that any other actually technically produceable idea from the Amateur Award list would have caught the client's attention in a similar way to be included in the social voting, but it didn't. Also, no other idea from the Amateur submissions did they like better than his. I think we should focus on congratulating Felix, and accepting that his idea really stood out.

I agree with you, it goes without saying how much talent and beautiful work we've seen in these many submissions!

I wish you a great evening everyone. Diana

I thought Diana that the social voting was for the Proffesional award choice not for Amateur I haven't heard anything about social voting for the Amateur award, and you maybe misunderstood me I don't have anything against Felix work this is a case for a personal test.I think, actually that because he was chosen for the proffesional award social voting if WG like his work so much he should be paid 3000 instead of 1500. And Diana you haven't answered my question I think a big problem here for me is a lack of transparency. If you change the rules at the end of competition, what we suppose to think ?We don't even now who was shortlisted for the Amateur award. Great evening to you too Jo

You are right,Jo! I think WG didn't want to pay another 3000 E prize ,so they choose to break the rules. For example,in the Greenpeace campain against McDonalds the client choose more then 3 designs ( as it's was initialy said in the briefing),but they were all paid the same. I don't know what understanding was betwen Jovoto and WG, but I think it is not fair to change the rules at the end of the competition. Jovoto should have more respect for their designers, even for the non profesional ones. Anyway, congrats to all the winners and participants! They were all great and deserve better clients to work for! Best wishes from Romania, Ana Mateias

Dear joyleen,

I apologize if I missed any of your questions. You are correct, there was a social voting only for the Professional Award. There was no official shortlist of the Amateur Award - it was simply picked by the client on their own a few days ago based on their internal discussions.

The rules did not change. The two Awards stayed as initially planned. We asked everyone to pick their type of submission, and so you did. The winners were picked through social voting and by the client. One idea happened to be with its feet in both worlds. It could have happened to yours (or any others') as well - and we would have still be open to it. And this openness was also part of the initial setup.

Did I miss any other question? Do you have more? Cheers, Diana

Dear Ana Mateias,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I will explain the prize structure at the top.The winning design of the Client’s Choice Professional Award is the design that will be created in winter, the one that will sit on the shelves. The following Award (Amateur) is additional (it might not be produced), and is simply there to give more prizes & acknowledgement to at least another creative. Another & main reason in the different in the amount is that for the Professional Award, the creatives had to dig into the technical specifications and work accordingly. It is only fair to them to pay them more.

It is correct that, in general on jovoto, when a client decides to license and produce more ideas than initially planned, they pay each idea an equal amount. That is not the case here, as explained above.

Any more questions? :)

Dear Caja,

We do our best. However, your choice to participate is completely free.

Cheers, Diana

Caja, you are a master at word-twisting. I know that by now, so I am not even going there. Have a good night! ;)

Dear Diana Thank you for your response.I red rules again and I don't think I missed the rules that artist can participate in both categories with the same design. That rule doesn't exist.. The openness which you mentioned before it is only for client convenience not for ours.Felix should be paid full amount because he took part in professional award.if someone is taking part in two awards that fact is proof that the rules of this competition changed.

Have a great night Diana.

Right. Why Diana asked so many competitors to specify in witch category they are participating (in comment section)since there was not going to be a delimitation betwen profis and amateurs? And why an Amateur idea should be faseble since it is not going to be produce?

In Felix idea it is also not specified in witch category he is participateing

I think WG are very stingy since they don't pay a fair price for a very good design that they probaby intend to use in future. As I said before ,creatives from here deserve better clients . Good night, ladies!

Ana I guess you don't wear your new t-shirt anymore ;)

:)))))) I didn't receive it. Probably another trick from WG:))) I suspect this company to be as serious as me after a bottle of votka :))) Romanians are thinking that in western countries can find fairness, ttansparency etc. I worked bought in Romania and Germany and I found out that when it comes to money ..... things become stinky. So for me is no surprise. Have a good night!

Fact is that jovoto does not follow rules they have done. They follow their rules only if it is good for themself . Of course for customer we are not exist. It is sad bad true.

Dear Ana,

We asked the creatives to pick their category because we wanted to leave the freedom to the creative if they want to dig deep into the technical specifications (and hence apply for the Professional Award) or they want to simply go ahead and create freely without looking at the specifications (and hence apply for the Amateur Award). That is also another reason why the difference in the award amount – as it does take much more time to check the specifications and work accordingly. So, we left it up to you to choose how you want to work.

We will track down your T-Shirt. And please always let us (me) know if you have not received something that you should have.

Have a great start in the day everyone! Diana

I did not participate - but the way I understood it, the difference between amateur and professional was not that only "professionals" had a chance to actually make the final product. The professionals had to worry about technical details, whereas amateurs could just design, and if it went into production, the WG team would alter the design to make it feasible.

The misunderstanding maybe comes from using the word "professional" in combination with the social award...?

Dear Diana, Thank you for your replay. I understand that you can not express an opinion about a Jovoto client because of the policy 'The client is always right'(even when he is not). But I can. In the future clients should not bring up 'Amateur awards' just so they can buy later profi designs at half price. It is not fair for none of the creatives here on the platform. Jovoto should take early measures so everybody can be fair awarded and not tricked by stingy companies. That is my opinion. It is also sugestion for the future projects.

I admire your work here, you were very supportive and I don't blame you cause I know you did your best for us (as much as you were allowed). Have a great week ! Cheers from Ro, Ana

Dear CrossTheLime, that is correct.

Dear Ana Mateias, there are no tricks, there is no unfairness and for jovoto the creatives and the client are exactly equal. Without any of them, jovoto wouldn't exist – we are very aware of that – and we love you both. :) The difference in the amount of the two Client Choices has been specified twice above and, as explained by CrossTheLime as well, it is related in the difference of effort that need have been put for each submission by the creative. Also the client, if they would, say, produce an Amateur design, they have to rework it in such a way that it fits the technical requirements - which means hiring another designer who works with the technician, whereas with a Professional submission that step would be skipped. I honestly don't see where you see unfairness in this setup.

Hugs back, Diana

Why they should hire another designer if they already decide that his work was part of the professional category in voting? Hyper Flix did not choose his side.

Dear skybre,

He did choose a side, by not answering the Professional related questions ("-" means usually "it doesn't apply").

Cheers

Please everyone, I think I have answered all the possible questions. If I missed any, I am happy to pick it up. :) Otherwise, repeating myself won't help from here on. ;)

Cheers, Diana

I mean he did not choose his side, WG did. For me it means they thought they don`t need to redesign it anymore, right? So why to pay half prize?

Dear Ana Mateias,

About the T-Shirt, we have never received an answer back from you regarding your size and address, so we were still waiting on that. I will PM you about it. ;)

Cheers, Diana

I replayed long time ago on e-mail to your colegue Haidy Witzka

"good clients would never ask for a spec work. " WTF. Seriously? Then why are you here?

There are some brilliant clients on here, and they are giving me a chance to work on projects that never would have come my way otherwise. I do not have to try and break into agencies or get an agent or pitch (hey that is spec, too) - I can have fun with my peers right here.

Considering the money spent on community pricing, not all that "spec" either.

Luckily, I have no kids. ;) And I do not do only spec work. Often spec work leads to usual commissions. But yes, I can live off what I make.

My 2 cents.. With so many different work models around the world for creatives (agency employee, freelancing, crowdstorming, partnerships & studio ownership etc.), everyone can find their best fit or mix. Let's accept everyone as they are, and with their own choices – they certainly make sense to them at this point in time.

Just to clarify, crowdstorming is not spec work, it is another model for co-creation; with prizes, learning and licensing. It is another variety to the mix. And we are happy that many of you find it thrilling and rewarding. We love you more than you think.

Have a cool day! Diana

Dear Caja,

You always, in each crowdstorm, mention the same thing. We've got it! ;) And, strangely, you are still participating. :)

Cheers

What is happening here? Why you have deleted my question to Ana Mateias?

Hey skybre, no question was deleted. I don't remember your exact comment, but it might have been a reply to a comment from Caja - who asked for his account to be deleted. And hence, his comments disappear as well, since his account doesn't exist anymore.

But if you have a question for Ana Mateias, please ask her in a Private Message.
