Mirikut from Brazil
Straw basketry craft from the Brazilian Wayana tribe

Hi! I'm Rod, awarded graphic designer and university teacher with over 30 years of experience. Brazilian, Iiving abroad since 2010 and in 2019 Switzerland became my new home.

The Wayana tribe lives in Brazil, near the Suriname and French Guyana borders. The "mirikut" are their graphic representation of things or beings, and are applied in many forms, such as body decoration and straw basketry. This pattern was inspired by a geometric grid from mirikut motives.
