Teleworking for minorities
Empower minorities with the right skills and platform to work from home

Target groups

Change makers and Public sector officials

Minorities, (such as people with disabilities, elderly people, single mothers, etc) that don't have the right skills, nor the opportunities to get a job most of the times are relegated and left with few options to get fair job opportunities.

A digital future should provide new opportunities for those who are not having them, allowing a more equal world that can lead to a more prosperous economy and ultimately overall wellbeing. Therefore, this digital future should provide the right skills and platform for those who are not having fair opportunities.

A teleworking program for minorities that consists of first, building digital skills for those who are still in disadvantage regarding knowledge about how to use computers, mobiles, basic programs; and second, a network of private/public companies that need specific tasks that can be done by such minorities after completing their digital training. Therefore, these companies can access a database of people willing to work in specific tasks like audio transcripts, PP presentations, editings, etc.

Key Problem

The key problem is, on the side of the community, minorities in a situation of disadvantage, who lack opportunities to start a career and have an income; on the side of companies, the problem is a lack of workforce with specific training for performing the tasks they need.

Which field and which area?

The general field is providing equal opportunities and building a digital community, and the solution would be directed at the whole region.

Effects of the problem

If these minorities are not included in the economically active part of society, this can have bad effects on the economy of the country, as well as on the self-esteem of this population. Furthermore, digital training will be important not only for pursuing a career but also for feeling included in a society which is more and more digital.

Companies fund digital training programs according to their needs, so they are sure to have qualified workers. Preference for participating in the training programs is given to population in disadvantage. After the training, there is a possibility of working remotely from home or at the company, according to the preference of each participant. Training programs are led by a network of volunteers.
